Greuther Fürth will be looking to end their brief stint in the Bundesliga on a positive note when they travel to the WWK Arena to face Augsburg on Saturday.

Augsburg

With five points separating them from the bottom three, Augsburg enter the final day knowing that their place in the top flight is assured.

Despite securing safety, the Fuggerstädter will fail to match last season's 13th place finish. Four defeats in their last five matches has ensured that Augsburg will finish the campaign no higher than 14th position.

Markus Weinzierl has witnessed his side concede four goals in their last two matches, with their most recent outing resulting in a 4-1 defeat to RB Leipzig.

Although there may not be too much to play for, Augsburg will be attempting to avoid a third consecutive home defeat after losing to Hertha BSC and FC Köln in their last two home outings.

They may be experiencing a run of poor form, but the hosts will be confident that they can find the net on Saturday after failing to score in just two of their 14 home league games this season.

Ruben Vargas is expected to be absent due to an injury, while Noah Sarenren Bazee and Tobias Strobl remain sidelined for the hosts. Iago is a doubt after missing last weekend's encounter due to a knee problem.

Greuther Fürth

On Saturday, Greuther Fürth will take part in a Bundesliga contest for the final time in 2022, with the visitors set to return to the second tier for next season.

The encounter with Augsburg also represents the final game of Stefan Leitl's reign, but the Hannover 96 bound man will not be in the dugout on Saturday after the 44-year-old tested positive for COVID-19.

Although they are destined for 2.Bundesliga football next season, Fürth will be motivated to clinch their first away win of the campaign on Saturday. Their 16 away league games this season have resulted in four draws and 12 defeats.

Hopes of a win against Augsburg may be slim as Fürth head into the weekend off the back of an 11-game winless league run.

Even if three points may be out of their reach, the visitors will be hoping to find the net for a fourth consecutive game, which would be a crumb of comfort for the Bundesliga's second-lowest scorers.
Team News

The search for an away victory will be undertaken without the services of Håvard Nielsen, Marco Meyerhöfer and Robin Kehr, who are all unavailable due to injury issues.
