Bayern boss Hasan Salihamidzic has confirmed that Robert Lewandowski has asked for permission to leave the club.
Bayern München board member for sport Hasan Salihamidzic has confirmed that Robert Lewandowski has turned down a contract extension and wants to leave the club.

"I spoke to 'Lewa'. During the conversation, he told me that he doesn't want to accept our offer to extend his contract and that he would like to leave the club," Salihamidzic told Sky Germany.

"He said that he would like to try something new. But our position has not changed. 'Lewa' has a contract until June 30, 2023. That is a fact."

Lewandowski is understood to be keen on a move to Barcelona, with the parties already said to have reached a verbal agreement on a three-year deal.

Asked if Barcelona have approached Bayern with an offer for Lewandowski, Salihamidzic responded:

"No. 'Lewa' has a contract here until the summer of next year, that's a fact. Our stance has always been clear."
