Contrary to what's previously been reported, there is no release clause in Christopher Nkunku's new RB Leipzig deal, according to Kicker.

When Christopher Nkunku extended his RB Leipzig contract until 2026 last month, it was reported that his new deal included a €60-65 million release clause, which would take effect from 2023.

However, Kicker now claims this is not the case, with the German football magazine reporting that a salary increase from €3 million to €7 million per year was enough to persuade the Frenchman into signing a new deal without a release clause.

Nkunku was named Bundesliga Player of the Season after racking up 20 goals and 14 assists in 33 games for Leipzig through the 2021/22 campaign.

His impressive form saw the 24-year-old linked with a host of Europe's top clubs before he ultimately decided to commit himself to Leipzig.
