Werder Bremen vs. RB Leipzig preview: Leipzig can go 13 games without a loss

Leipzig are looking for their 13th straight game without a defeat in all competitions, while Werder will want to end the first half of the season on a high-note after getting rolled over by Bayern midweek.

Werder Bremen

The newly-promoted club are 7th in the table. Sensational stuff. A stable defensive unit combined with efficient play between Marvin Ducksch and Niclas Füllkrug up front should be credited.

Füllkrug's magical season continued on Thursday, when he received a call-up to the German national team from Hansi Flick. The star striker will return to the starting lineup on Saturday, while Niklas Stark is likely to replace the injured Milos Veljkovic in defense.

Werder have only defeated Leipzig two times in the ten matches they've played.

When asked about their huge loss to Bayern, Ole Werner said, "You just have to acknowledge that on the day we wouldn't have won that game no matter how we had played. For me, it's about what we can take away and learn from it. - We're constantly challenging ourselves to improve."

Veljkovic has been ruled out, while Michael Zetterer, Felix Agu and Manuel Mbom are also unavailable.

RB Leipzig

Under Marco Rose, Leipzig have been brought back to life and are steadily climbing back up the table. A big reason for their success if of course Christopher Nkunku, who has an incredible 17 goals across all competitions thus far.

The Red Bull club took care of business against Freiburg on Wednesday, with Dominik Szoboszlai putting out another creative performance. However, they are now forced to make some changes defensively due to several players dealing with injuries.

A victory would earn Leipzig their 6th straight win in a row.

In his press conference, Rose said, "I am pleased for Niclas Füllkrug that he has been called-up to the World Cup squad. I hope that he's not so successful tomorrow! But after that I will be a Germany and Füllkrug fan."
