Confirmed: Keven Schlotterbeck joins Bochum on loan

SC Freiburg defender Keven Schlotterbeck's loan to VfL Bochum was confirmed by both clubs early Monday morning.
Keven Schlotterbeck will spend the duration of the season on loan at VfL Bochum. A deal rumored to be completed was officially confirmed on Monday morning. The 25-yea-old's heads from the fight for the Champions' League to the fight against relegation for the remaining 19 Bundesliga fixtures.

"Keven approached us with a desire for change with the possibility of more playing time. We can understand that, especially after his contract extension in the summer," SCF sporting director Klemens Hartenbach noted in a statement accompanying the signing, "With the loan to Bochum, we have found a good solution for both sides, which will allow Keven to collect as many playing minutes as possible in the remaining 19 Bundesliga games."

With Keven Schlotterbeck, we strengthen our squad and expand our options in defense," VfL sporting director Patrick Fabian noted in his own statement, "Keven knows what lies ahead for him and us and is ready to support us in the fight to remain in the league."

Schlotterbeck himself thanked his parent club for the opportunity to secure more playing time. SCF trainer Christian Streich wished the elder Schlotterbeck player well and noted that he had "one or two talents" from the reserve squad in mind when it came to replacing the sparsely-used center back.
