Schmadtke confirms agreement with Cozza, arrival date in Wolfsburg still uncertain

Speaking to the local Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung, VfL sporting CEO Jörg Schmadtke has confirmed that the his club is in agreement with Montpellier fullback Nicolas Cozza.

Whether the Frenchman shall come to Lower Saxony this month or after the season remains to be seen.

VfL Wolfsburg's chief personnel manager has confirmed to the city's local newspaper that Montpellier defender Nicolas Cozza is not only the club's primary target for the a reinforcement at the left-back position, but also - for all practical purposes - a new WOB player. Schmadtke told the Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitiung that "his [Cozza's] arrival is definitely clear."

Schmadtke left open whether the 24-year-old will come to Germany during the current transfer window or on a free after the season. The German paper's article suggests it is the preference of north the player and the German club that a direct transfer be concluded soon. After selling Jerome Roussillon to 1. FC Union Berlin yesterday, Wolfsburg no longer have a back-up at the position.

Cozza's estimated market value stands at €5 million in the latest transfermarkt listings. Schmadtke indicated that negotiations with the Ligue 1 side were still ongoing.
