The defender known affectionately to his teammates as "Jay" declared himself "highly motivated to get started in a familiar league and make my contribution". TSG managing director Alexander Rosen lauded Brooks "experience, tackling, and heading skills" in the club's rollout. Echoing the sentiments of many German football lovers, Rosen quipped that Brooks "needed no further introduction."
Having amassed well over 200 Bundesliga appearances for his previous two Bundesliga sides, Brooks may be considered an immediate candidate for head-coach André Breitenreiter's starting XI. The 29-year-old's new contract in Kraichgauer runs through 2024. German footballing magazine Kicker reports that Hoffenheim paid just €300,000 to acquire the €7-million-valued veteran.
