It might actually be the case that VfL Wolfsburg are intending to offload both players they were considering getting off their roster during the current January transfer window. A report appearing on the Wolfsberger Allgemeine Zeitung's website on Sunday evening links Maximilian Philipp with a move to Hertha BSC. Additionally, Germany's green company team is said to have worked out a solution for Luca Waldschmidt.

Linked with seemingly every Bundesliga side during the current window, Waldschmidt recently made a case to remain in the plans of VfL trainer Niko Kovac's side with some impressive performances off the bench. The paper nevertheless claims that Wolfsburg and Stuttgart have worked out a loan deal for the 26-year-old. Waldschmidt will be reunited with former head-coach Bruno Labbadia, under whom he played at HSV.

Wolfsburg have already allowed Jerome Roussillon and Josip Brekalo to depart during the current transfer window. Club sporting CEO Jörg Schmadtke - who will be leaving the club after the transfer window closes on Tuesday - may not wish to slash the active roster down to a possibly untenable 23 players as his final action with the club.
