Leverkusen updates: Marseille make offer for Azmoun, Sertdemir headed back to Denmark
Fabrizio Romano, among others, reports that Olympique Marseille are attempting to make a late swoop for Leverkusen striker Sardar Azmoun.
In other Leverkusen news, Danish tabloid BT links Zidan Sertdemir with a return to his academy club in Denmark.
While the German club (understandably enough) isn't very amenable to the deal, Olympique Marseille are said to have tendered an offer to Leverkusen for the purchase of Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun. The 28-year-old only just arrived in North-Rhine Westphalia last January from Zenit St. Petersburg for the reported cut-rate price of €2.5 million.
In other Leverkusen news, Danish tabloid BT links Zidan Sertdemir with a return to his academy club in Denmark.
The Ligue 1 side are reportedly offering Germany's red company team €10 million for the attacker, which would constitute a decent flip. Azmoun's estimated market worth has declined from a peak of €25 million some 13 months ago after a rather uneventful year during which he scored just one league goal for his Bundesliga club.
Currently valued at €12 million, Azmoun has made just ten league appearances (two starts) for die Werkself this season. Returning from injury, Azmoun has made two very brief relief appearances since Bundesliga play resumed last week. The former Russian Premiership star is said to be open to a move to France, even though he recently told an Iranian paper that he wished to remain in Germany.
There is more news on the Leverkusen front from Danish tabloid BT. According to the paper, 17-year-old attacking prospect Zidan Sertdemir will be returning to FC Nordsjælland on a new three-year-contract. The teenage phenom made three top tier appearances under former B04 trainer Gerardo Seoane - who made a point of singing his praises - last year.
Sertdemir has nevertheless not logged any minutes for the senior side this season. Mostly in action for the reserves, he's been selected for six Leverkusen matchday squads by Seoane and Xabi Alonso without being subbed in off the bench.
