VfB Stuttgart's long list of injured players is getting somewhat smaller. After central defenders Hiroki Ito and Konstantinos Mavropanos were able to make it back in time for a midweek domestic cup fixture against Paderborn, VfB head-coach Bruno Labbadia revealed that both fullback Borna Sosa and center-halve Dan-Axel Zagadou might make the bench squad this weekend against Bremen.

Sosa has been out since the World Cup break with adductor issues. Zagadou is on the mend from a double ligament tear in his ankle suffered in January training camp. Labbadia remarked that both had made excellent progress in their rehabilitation programs and were able to rejoin parts of team training this week.

"Borna is almost there, shows a willingness to play, and is an option," Labbadia confirmed, "Daxo [Zagadou] hasn't lost a day. It's admirable how he's always pushed himself to the max. His reward for this is that he can finally be back on the pitch with us now."

When it comes to the team's injured attackers, however, the news is still not so good. The VfB gaffer confirmed that both Tiago Tomas remains out with torn abdominal muscles. Congolese winger/forward Silas still has problems with his calf. Labbadia expressed the hope that Silas - who finally settled his identity fraud case in German court this week - could be reintroduced into team training this week.
