Hertha BSC

Hertha are now several points behind the relegation playoff spot and with every passing week get closer to securing a place in the second division. They’ve scored just one goal in their four Bundesliga games of 2023, as the offense is struggling to find any sort of production.

Dodi Lukebakio will likely start with Augsburg newcomer Florian Niederlechner up front in hopes of turning the tide. With Fredi Bobic gone, Sandro Schwarz is next up on the chopping block.

If Hertha don’t secure at least a point against this inconsistent Gladbach side, the new bosses may have no choice but to go in a different direction.

Sporting Director Benjamin Weber said this week that, "We have to remain calm in every aspect, but it's clear we need to pick up points. I can see how hard the coaching staff is working with the lads, and we have full confidence in Sandro and the team."

Agustin Rogel, Wilfried Kanga, Chidera Ejuke, Stevan Jovetic, Kelian Nsonsa and Peter Pekarik are all unavailable.

Gladbach

At 10th in the table, it hasn’t been the year many Gladbach supporters were hoping for. Daniel Farke has received his fair share of criticism from fans over lineup decisions and head-scratching performances.

Speaking of, Gladbach drew to Schalke last week after slamming four goals against Hoffenheim the week before. The club are relying heavily on individual magic from the likes of Stindl, Hofmann and Thuram, but that can only take them so far.

Christoph Kramer and Manu Kone will likely be the new midfield pivot on Sunday with Julian Weigl suspended after picking up his 5th yellow card of the season.

When asked about the lack of playing time for Patrick Herrmann, Farke commented, "One of the toughest jobs as a coach is telling players they're not in the matchday squad, like with Flaco lately. I have a great relationship with my players and my door is always open. Every player in our squad is important."

Weigl is suspended, while Alassane Plea is questionable. Jonas Hofmann and Florian Neuhaus are expected to be in the squad.
