Pavard to stay at Bayern after all?

A few months ago, it seemed like an open secret that Benjamin Pavard would leave Bayern Munich, but it now looks like he could stay after all.
After a difficult period, Benjamin Pavard publicly flirted with a departure from Bayern Munich back in November, saying:

"I have nothing against tackling a new project. Maybe now is the time."

With clubs such as FC Barcelona and Inter touted as suitors for Pavard, it looked like an open secret at the time that the French international would be sold in the summer.

However, according to Abendzeitung, a contract extension for Pavard, whose current deal expires in 2024, is now "possible and more likely than in recent months".

Per the report, the Bayern bosses are pleased with the French defender's performances in recent weeks. The 26-year-old has increasingly been allowed to play in his favorite position as a centre-back, which could cause him to rethink.

Spanish outlet Sport goes a step further than Abendzeitung and claims that the Frenchman is no longer a candidate for Barcelona, as he's close to a new deal with Bayern.
