Gladbach

Gladbach haven’t made any sense in recent weeks. In their last three games, they were crushed by Hertha 4-1, defeated Bayern 3-2 and then were demolished by Mainz 4-0.

At 10th in the table, supporters have been a bit disappointed with Daniel Farke due to the amount of quality in this squad. Luckily, Gladbach are still only four points away from the Conference League spot which Wolfsburg currently holds.

Farke stated, "Borussia have finished 4th, 8th and 10th in the last three seasons. First and foremost, we want to stop this negative trend. In terms of points at this stage, we're in a decent position compared to recent years."

Jan Olschowsky, Julian Weigl and Tony Jantschke have been ruled out. Tobias Sippel will start if Jonas Omlin, who is doubtful with a hip injury, can’t suit up.

Marcus Thuram and Hannes Wolf are expected to be squad options after missing training earlier this week.

SC Freiburg

Ever since their 5-1 loss to Dortmund, Freiburg have quietly been putting together decent results to stay 5th in a crowded top 6. But, the Breisgau club must be careful not to look ahead to their Europa League fixture against a certain Italian giant and focus on Saturday’s game.

Speaking of Italians, Vincenzo Grifo has been sensational this campaign with 12 goals already. Freiburg will his set-piece wizardry if they want to rekindle any magic from their massive 6-0 win at Gladbach last season.

When asked about their salivating away match against Juventus next week, Christian Streich commented, "I watched the derby on Monday. But we don't play there on Saturday. There's still plenty of time to look forward to it and to prepare. The best preparation is to play a good away game (Saturday) against a good opponent."

Daniel-Kofi Kyereh is out for the season after tearing his ACL. But, Freiburg are a fairly healthy team with only Ritsu Doan questionable with an illness. This could give way to a start for Roland Sallai.
