Bayern Munich have decided to relieve head coach Julian Nagelsmann of his duties with immediate effect, according to multiple sources, including Fabrizio Romano, Bild, Sky Germany, Kicker and Gianluca Di Marzio.

The 35-year-old will reportedly be replaced by Thomas Tuchel, who last worked as Chelsea manager.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Tuchel will sign a contract until the summer of 2025 with the German champions.

Nagelsmann joined Bayern from Hoffenheim in the summer of 2021 on a five-year contract.

In his first season in charge, he led the Bavarian club to their tenth consecutive league title, but they were disappointingly knocked out of the Champions League by Villarreal in the quarterfinals.

Bayern are currently second in the Bundesliga, having fallen behind Borussia Dortmund after losing 2-1 to Bayer Leverkusen at the BayArena last week.

They will face Manchester City in the Champions League quarterfinals after knocking out Paris Saint-Germain.
