Freiburg

For the second year in a row Freiburg suffered DFB-Pokal disappointment at the hands of RB Leipzig. After losing to die Roten Bullen in last season’s final, Freiburg were hoping to get their own back on Tuesday. However, it proved to be a disappointing evening for Christian Streich’s side as they fell to a heavy 5-1 defeat.

They will have to quickly pick themselves up, as they turn their attention to their top-four bid. After winning their last three Bundesliga games, Freiburg are sitting in fourth position, and they are two points better off than fifth-placed Leipzig.

Freiburg have failed to win any of their last eight competitive meetings with Leipzig, and they will be looking to claim their first win over Saturday’s opponents since picking up a 2-1 victory in October 2019.
Team News

Freiburg are without the services of long-term absentee Daniel-Kofi Kyereh, while Ritsu Doan is a doubt due to a knee issue.

RB Leipzig

Leipzig will be in a buoyant mood after sealing their place in the DFB-Pokal final for the third season in a row. Die Roten Bullen will attempt to retain the trophy they won last season when they go head-to-head with Eintracht Frankfurt in Berlin on June 3.

Before they can focus on their cup showdown with die Adler, Marco Rose’s side will face Freiburg, Werder Bremen, Bayern Munich and Schalke in their final four fixtures of the Bundesliga season.

Leipzig have won five of their last six games in all competitions, and if they can claim another victory on Saturday then they will move into the top four.

Although Leipzig were victorious at the Europa-Park Stadion in midweek, their recent away form in the Bundesliga has been underwhelming, with three of their last four away league games ending in defeat.
Team News

Leipzig are unable to call upon Peter Gulacsi and Xaver Schlager. Meanwhile, Kevin Kampl could also be absent after missing the midweek cup win.
