Official: Glasner to leave Frankfurt this summer

It's now official: Eintracht Frankfurt will part ways with head coach Oliver Glasner this summer.
Eintracht Frankfurt have confirmed that Oliver Glasner will leave his position as head coach at the end of the season, one year before his contract was due to expire.

The sporting development and overall performance in the second half of the season have led the club to this decision, Eintracht said in a statement this evening.

"We believe that after all the speculation and also due to the turmoil surrounding the coaching staff in recent weeks and months, clarity on the question of the future is now essential in order to allow the coach and the team to fully focus on the goals of the season and the cup final," said board member for sport Markus Krösche.

"Therefore, we want to work together on the best possible farewell and concentrate fully on the last games.

Oliver Glasner commented:

"I accept the decision of the club management, which was plausibly explained to me. The discussions with Markus Krösche and [head of first-team football] Timmo Hardung were honest, open and fair, just as our exchanges over the past few years have always been constructive and based on a high level of mutual respect.

"However, now is not the time to say goodbye or look back. We still have a decisive mission ahead of us, and in the coming weeks we will do everything in our power to create the conditions for a great final together in Berlin and to bring the DFB Cup back to Frankfurt through our performances in the final spurt of the Bundesliga. It is very important to me personally that Eintracht can celebrate great nights on the international stage again next season."

Glasner joined Eintracht in 2021 and helped the club win the Europa League last season.
