Darmstadt updates: SV poised to complete first signing, Pfeiffer's transfer to Augsburg finalized

Newly promoted Bundesliga side SV Darmstadt 98 are reportedly poised to complete their first signing ahead of the new season.

The Hessen-based club will nevertheless also need to find a way of coping with the loss of the most valuable player on their roster. 
Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany reports that newly-promoted Bundesliga side SV Darmstadt 98 are poised to sign the (aptly named) Fabian Nürnberger of 1. FC Nürnberg on a free transfer. The 23-year-old central midfielder is a 2. Bundesliga veteran with 100 second-tier fixtures to his credit. He made 24 league appearances for Dieter Hecking's Bavarian squad this past season.

The home-base German site of transfermarkt also reports that defender Patric Pfeiffer's transfer to Augsburg is through and that the 23-year-old's transfer to the Fuggerstädter on a free should be confirmed within a couple of days. With an estimated market worth of some €3 million, Pfeiffer is the most valuable player on the Hessen-based-club's roster.

Darmstadt secured their second promotion to the German top-flight on the 2. Bundesliga's penultimate matchday. The "Lillies" finished second place in the table after 1. FC Heidenheim claimed the league championship in dramatic fashion yesterday. The team, coaching staff, and front-office team commemorated their promotion with a formal celebration in the Darmstadt city-center this afternoon.
