Darmstadt confirm first two summer signings
Newly-promoted Bundesliga side SV Darmstadt 98 confirmed their first two incoming transfers ahead of the coming top-tier season yesterday.
Andreas Müller | SV Darmstadt 98 |
"I am convinced that Fabian Nürnberger can help us further with his player profile as well as his flexibility and enhance our squad as a whole," SV head-coach Torsten Lieberknecht noted in a statement accompanying the signing, "Also in terms of character, we are sure after the talks with him that he fits very well into the group."
The Hessen Lillies quickly followed up the announcement of Nürnberger's signing with the news that defensive midfielder Andreas Müller of 1. FC Magdeburg had also joined the club on a free. The 22-year-old just joined the second-tier East German side last summer and made 20 appearances for Magdeburg across all competitions this past year. He scored one goal in the league.
Müller's strong campaign was interrupted by a syndemosis tear.
"Andreas has continuously improved his performance over the past years and brings further development potential," SV manager Carsten Wehlmann said of Müller, "Until his injury, he was absolutely convincing in the past second division season. That's why we're delighted to welcome him to Darmstadt."
"I'm impressed by the progress the Lilien have made in recent years," the player himself added, "Step by step, they've managed to establish themselves in the upper echelons of the 2. Bundesliga."
