Official: Kwarteng transfers to Bochum

VfL Bochum confirmed the signing of attacking midfielder Moritz-Broni Kwarteng on Thursday evening. 
Stuttgart-native Moritz-Broni Kwarteng will get his first chance to play top-tier German football next season. VfL Bochum made the long-rumored purchase of the 25-year-old official on Thursday evening. Germany's main sporting tabloid "Sport Bild" reports that a transfer fee of approximately €1 million will flow into the coffers of the attacking midfielder's now former club, 1. FC Magdeburg.

Kwarteng just completed an excellent 2. Bundesliga campaign for his East German club, scoring ten league goals and pocketing a further three assists. The former HSV professional - who also spent time in the youth academies of Stuttgart, Leipzig, and Hoffenheim - initially joined Magdeburg on a free some 18 months ago.

"The Bundesliga is a great challenge that generates huge enthusiasm in me," Kwarteng noted in qa statement accompanying the signing, "I will do everything I can to be successful with the VfL. I'm looking forward to the city, the stadium, the team, and - of course - the fans."

"We've been intensively engaged with Moritz for some time, so it is even nicer that the transfer could now be completed," VfL technical director Marc Lettau added in his own official club statement, "Momo is a player who took a tremendous development in the past season and fits ideally in terms of profile to the 'Castrop street football . He can be used variably in attack, has developed  box-to-box play and is an additional invigorating element for our game with to his dynamism and speed."
