Sky Germany: Augsburg and Bochum among suitors for Wolfsburg's Philipp

As discussed on last night's "Transfer Update" show produced by Sky Germany, there are now at least three top-tier suitors for versatile German attacker Maximilian Philipp of VfL Wolfsburg.
German attacker Maximilian Philipp was returned to VfL Wolfsburg following the conclusion of his short-term loan stint with SV Werder Bremen during the 2022/23 season's Rückrunde. Given that the 29-year-old did enjoy some modest success with the Hanseaten, there did exist some discussion in Bremen about an outright purchase. A reported €2 million price-tag reportedly put the loan club off.

Philipp could still return to Bremen if a lower transfer fee can be negotiated. On last night's Sky Germany "transfer update" show, FC Augsburg and VfL Bochum were also named as potential suitors. Both clubs - expected to factor into next year's relegation race - remain in need of offensive upgrades. Rumors that Augsburg, in particular, will be parting company with newly signed striker Mërgim Berisha continue to swirl.

Philipp's parent club of Wolfsburg are linked with Berisha, leaving open the possibility that there may even be a swap deal involving Philipp. A move for the Berlin-native seems to be in the cards in any case. Philipp made just three appearances for Kovac's VfL during the 2022/23 "Hin-runde". On 11 occasions, the attacker didn't even make Kovac's bench squad.
