Gladbach complete Chiarodia signing

Borussia Mönchengladbach officially sealed the singing of young defensive prospect Fabio Chiarodia on Wednesday afternoon.
After obtaining fullback Lukas Ullrich and striker Leon Grant Ramos, Borussia Mönchengladbach have signed a third young developmental prospect from another German club. The rumored deal to bring SV Werder Bremen central defender Fabio Chiarodia in via a not-exactly cheap exit clause has been completed.

The Westphalian foals unveiled the 18-year-old on Wednesday afternoon. Sporting director Roland Virkus emphasized that he believed the teenager to be worth every penny. While Chiarodia has only made three Bundesliga appearances, the young talent has already been 22 times at the Italian U19 level and below.

"Fabio Chiarodia is one of the biggest talents in his position in Germany," Virkus noted in a statement accompanying the signing, "He showed just how far he has come for his age, especially in the game against us at Borussia-Park. We are convinced that we will have a lot of fun with him."

"I'm looking forward to playing for Borussia Mönchengladbach," the youngster himself added, "I want to give my best for this great traditional club and develop myself in the process. The club is very familiar and I think the overall package suits me very well - both as a person and as a footballer."

Bremen licensing director Clemens Fritz actually released his own statement expressing regret that Chiarodia opted to leave his academy club. Fritz revealed that current Gladbach coach Gerardo Seoane had actually been trying to pry him away last summer whilst in charge of Leverkusen.
