Italian transfer experts Fabrizio Romano and Gianluca di Marzio both report that Eintracht Frankfurt and Lazio Rome are close to finalizing a deal to send Swiss midfielder Djibril Sow to the Serie A.

Frankfurt midfielder Djibril Sow has made no secret of his desire to depart German football for greener pastures. The 26-year-old was thought to target a Premier League switch during the current offseason. It now appears as if the 38-times-capped international will not be headed to the Isle, but rather south. Italian transfer experts Fabrizio Romano and Gianluca di Marzio report that Sow is close to a move to Lazio Rome.

The two Italian sources claim that Frankfurt are set to net a transfer fee in the €15 million range, though it remains unclear at this point as to whether this sum includes performance bonuses or not. SGE sporting director Markus Krösche recently revealed in an interview with Kicker Magazine that several want-away professionals could soon be on the move.

Frankfurt's active roster a short three weeks before the 2023/24 Bundesliga campaign is set to begin stands at a whopping 40 players. It's exceedingly uncommon that top-tier German sides carry more than 34 or 35 professionals on their payroll at the beginning of a campaign. Attackers Randal Kolo Muani, Rafael Santos Borré, and Jesper Lindstrøm are other candidates for outgoing transfers.
