Bayern officially unveil Kane: "Our fans can look forward to one of the greatest goal-scorers in history."
One of the biggest blockbuster transfers in the history of German football is finally through.
Harry Kane has finally received his new FC Bayern München tricot. The English superstar will, unsurprisingly, wear the #9 for the German record champions. Kane was officially unveiled on Saturday morning. The Englishman receives a new contract valid through 2027. German media outlets confirm earlier reports of a base transfer fee of €100 million paid to Tottenham Hotspur with another €20 million in performance related bonuses.
Kane is available to FCB trainer Thomas Tuchel and may feature in this evening's DFL Supercup. One of the best strikers of all time received a warm welcome in statements released by the club accompanying the roll-out. FCB President Herbert Hainer acknowledged that working on the transfer required "a tenacious persistence". Acting sporting CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen spoke of a "lengthy process".
Harry Kane was our absolute dream target right from the start, and he fits us and the club's DNA perfectly in terms of both sport and character," Dreesen added, "World-class center forwards have always been an important factor when FC Bayern captured its most famous titles, and we are convinced that Harry Kane will continue this success story. Our fans can look forward to one of the best goal-scorers of our time."
"Welcome to Munich, Harry Kane!" Hainer added in a statement "We are very happy about this world-class new acquisition. A big compliment to everyone involved at FC Bayern in these negotiations, with our CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen at the helm. Harry Kane will not only strengthen FC Bayern, but will also benefit the entire Bundesliga."
"I am very happy to now be a part of FC Bayern," Kane himself said, "FC Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world and I have always said that I want to compete and prove myself at the highest level in my career. FC Bayern is characterized by its winning culture. It feels very good to be here."
