Gladbach vs. Bayern Munich preview: Can Gladbach shock the Bavarians again?

Bayern travel to Borussia-Park to face their bogey team in Gladbach, who are already battling with injury issues on Matchday 3.

Gladbach

Gladbach have acquired just one point from their first two games and now it looks like starting keeper Jonas Omlin is out with an injury for the foreseeable future. They did however just sign Jordan from Union Berlin to hopefully provide some more attacking prowess up front.

There are so many new faces on this Gladbach side and it feels like this may take a while before things start to gel. Die Fohlen should be watching tape on their recent performances against the record champions to potentially shock the Bundesliga again.

When asked about Omlin, Gerardo Seoane said, "We've got four goalkeepers that we think are capable of playing Bundesliga football. They're all in different phases of their career. We're very happy with their quality. As soon as we know Jonas' prognosis, we'll think about who can replace him."

Omlin is out and Moritz Nicolas could be his replacement. Luca Netz, Stefan Lainer, Christoph Kramer, and Manu Kone are all expected to remain unavailable.

Bayern Munich

It’s been a busy few days for the Bavarian club, who are dealing with last-minute signings and learning their Champions League group stage opponents. Benjamin Pavard and (reportedly) Ryan Gravenberch have left the club, while they’re still trying to find some replacements.

When it comes to league play, Bayern have unsurprisingly looked solid through their first two games. Harry Kane already looks like a world-class forward and Alphonso Davies has been flying down the left wing.

Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, and Leroy Sane are expected to start from the off again. It’s also likely that Kim Min-jae and Dayot Upamecano continue as the starting center-back pairing.

New Sporting Director Christoph Freund was introduced this week and said, "I'm very happy to be here. FC Bayern stands for key values with which I can identify very well. It's a huge honor and a dream for me to be able to work for this club now. FCB is the best club in the German-speaking world.”

Manuel Neuer and Raphaël Guerreiro have returned to training, but both won’t be ready for this weekend. Jamal Musiala should return next week.
