Bayern Munich vs. Manchester United preview: Team news and predicted lineups

Here is our preview of Wednesday's Champions League group stage clash between Bayern Munich and Manchester United, including predicted lineups.
Harry Kane is in line to make his first Champions League appearance as a Bayern Munich player when the German champions welcome Manchester United to the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.

The England captain has hit the ground running in Germany, scoring four goals in his first four games for Bayern. But with the environment still relatively new, he feels there's still room for improvement.

"Of course I'm always happy to score, overall I'm still just getting to know the team, I think I can improve with my all-round play. That's going to come - it's just part and parcel of football. I feel with every training session and every game, I'm getting to know my teammates more. As the season goes on, that'll become even stronger," Kane told AFP.

In general, Bayern haven't looked at their best since the start of the season and struggled at times in Friday's 2-2 draw with Bayer Leverkusen, which saw them concede in stoppage time.

"We have to be more stable and have more grip overall," Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel warned after the draw.

"Sometimes we were in control, sometimes not, sometimes we were compact, sometimes not. There is still room for improvement."

Suspended after being sent off in Bayern's 1-1 draw with Manchester City last season, Tuchel will be the German champions' most notable absence against Manchester United.

Assistant coaches Zsolt Löw and Anthony Barry will be in the dugout in his absence and should have all players at their disposal apart from Manuel Neuer, with Raphael Guerreiro and Kingsley Coman both back in training.

Back at full strength after a spell on the sidelines, Jamal Musiala could come in at the expense of Thomas Müller. Otherwise, Bayern are expected to field the same team that faced Leverkusen.

The Bavarians will face a struggling Manchester United side, with the Red Devils having lost their last two matches against Brighton and Arsenal. Nevertheless, Kane is expecting a tough game.

"It's going to be a really good game, a tough game. Obviously Manchester United are a big team and have some quality players, so we'll need to prepare well. Every game in the Champions League is tough so we'll expect nothing less on Wednesday," Kane told AFP.
