Mainz 05 have had a terrible start to the season and are bottom of the Bundesliga with just one point from the first six games of the season.

This has led to speculation about Bo Svensson's future as the club's coach, but Mainz director of sport Christian Heidel has called for an end to questions about the Dane on ARD's Sportschau, calling the talk "completely unnecessary".

"The club is dealing with the crisis in the way I imagine," he elaborated in an interview with Kicker.

"There are no mutual accusations. There is great calm, nobody is discussing with anybody.

"The team and the whole club feel that we are ready, now we need the results and we will get them," Heidel stressed.

Svensson started coaching Mainz in January 2021 and has received a lot of praise for his work prior to this season.

He led the club to a ninth-place finish in the Bundesliga last season.
