Bremen confirm new spell on the sidelines for Keïta

SV Werder Bremen confirmed a grim new injury prognosis for Naby Keïta on Sunday afternoon.
Naby Keïta's starting XI debut for his new German club SV Werder Bremen lasted only 59 minutes last night. The star summer signing was seen clutching his thigh and signaling that he needed to be subbed off during yesterday evening's 2-3 loss to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. On Sunday, Bremen confirmed that the former Liverpool man would be out through at least the end of the month.

SV personnel chief Clemens Fritz issued a statement on Sunday ruling Keïta out for the upcoming two Bundesliga fixtures against Borussia Dortmund and 1. FC Union Berlin. Keïta will also not travel to the Guinean international team, as was planned, during the coming international break.

"This is of course very bitter for Naby, as he had only just returned to full fitness," Fritz noted in the statement, "The injury is not all that serious, but he will not be available to us for at least the next two games."

Speaking on the matter himself, SV head-coach Ole Werner revealed that the new injury was doubly bitter as he and his staff had planned to take Keïta off at the hour-mark anyway. The new muscular injury occurred just seconds before the 28-year-old's short assignment was due to end.
