Report: Xavi Simons likely to stay at Leipzig

Sport Bild reports that Paris Saint-Germain loanee Xavi Simons is likely to stay at RB Leipzig beyond the end of the season.
RB Leipzig appear to have a good chance of keeping Xavi Simons beyond the end of his loan spell.

Xavi Simons has hit the ground running since joining RB Leipzig on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain, and Die Roten Bullen have already made it clear that they would like to keep the youngster beyond the end of the season.

According to a Sport Bild report, Leipzig are in with a good chance of doing so, as they have reached "something like an agreement" with Paris Saint-Germain to extend the loan if Simons plays regularly and the club qualify for the Champions League again.

The report states that the two clubs have a good relationship, having agreed on a number of transfers in recent years.

In addition, Leipzig and Red Bull are said to have strong ties to Simons' agent, Darren Dein, who helped bring Thierry Henry to the New York Red Bulls in 2010.

Simons, 20, has scored three goals and provided four assists in 11 appearances for RB Leipzig to date.
