Kane and Musiala secure hard-fought win for Bayern in Istanbul

Bayern struggled for long spells against Galatasaray, but Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala stepped up in the second half to give the German champions a 3-1 win.

Bayern Munich maintained their perfect record in this year's Champions League with a hard-earned 3-1 victory over Galatasaray in Istanbul to make it three wins from three.

The German champions got off to the perfect start, with Kingsley Coman opening the scoring after just eight minutes with a clinical low right-foot shot.

In search of an equaliser, Galatasaray created a number of chances before Mauro Icardi deservedly levelled the scoreline from the penalty spot in the 30th minute. The Argentina international won the spot-kick himself, going down after a challenge from Joshua Kimmich.

Galatasaray continued to create chances, while limiting Bayern to very few. However, they failed to capitalize on their good spell and were eventually punished when Harry Kane met Jamal Musiala's low cross to restore Bayern's lead in the 72nd minute. After Kane's initial backheel attempt was blocked, the ball fell back to the England international, who slotted home.

Kane's goal seemed to dash Galatasaray's hopes of a comeback, and Bayern extended their lead six minutes later to put the game beyond doubt. This time Harry Kane found Jamal Musiala, who smashed a shot into the far corner of the net.

Galatasaray had the ball in the net in stoppage time, but Abdulkerim Bardakci's header was ruled out for offside.

The win extended Bayern's record winning streak in the Champions League group stage to 16 games. The German champions sit comfortably atop Group A with 9 points from three games.
