Kicker Report: Union to introduce Raúl as new head-coach on Sunday

Reliable German journalist Jannis Klimburg of Germany's preeminent footballing publication reports that 1. FC Union Berlin are set to introduce former Schalke star Raúl as their new head-coach tomorrow.
Rumors surfacing earlier in the day regarding 1. FC Union Berlin's search for a new head-coach apparently contain a kernel of truth, according to Germany's preeminent footballing publication. Jannis Klimburg of Kicker Magazine reports that Spanish footballing legend Raúl is set to follow in countryman Xabi Alonso's footsteps and coach a top flight German footballing side.

Klimburg reports that 46-year-old is set for a Sunday introduction. Like Alonso, Raúl has never coached a senior men's team prior to this appointment. Also like Alonso, the former Schalke star enjoys a stellar reputation in German footballing circles following his successful stint in the Bundesliga. He scored a total of 40 goals across all competition whilst playing for Schalke between 2010 and 2012.

Raül's two-season stint in the Bundesrepublik left him with a proficient command of the German language, often well-showcased in interviews. The Spaniard will become just the second trainer to ever lead Union in the top flight. He currently works in the youth system of the club for which he enjoyed the greatest professional success, Real Madrid.
