Kicker Report: Raúl turns down Union coaching position, Bjelica a candidate

Germany's preeminent footballing publication has reversed itself on the topic of 1. FC Union Berlin's soon-to-be-appointed new trainer early Sunday morning.
After setting German footballing circles ablaze with the news that 1. FC Union Berlin would be appointing long-time Real Madrid star Raúl as their new head-coach late Saturday evening, journalist Jannis Klimburg of Germany's Kicker Magazine has nixed his own rumor in an article published early Sunday morning on the magazine's website.

Klimburg still maintains that Union will be unveiling Urs Fischer's replacement soon, but that Raúl ended up declining the offer and opted to remain with the Real youth system. The Spanish footballing legend - it is rumored - also turned down an offer to coach his old Bundesliga club Schalke some time back.

Klimburg has nothing new to note on the rumors that former TSG 1899 Hoffenheim trainer Alfred Schreuder might be a candidate for the job. The Kicker journalist cites reports from other media sources that Union are interested in the services of former Kaiserslautern midfielder Nenad Bjelica.
