Christian Wück's DFB-youths survived both a pull-back goal shortly after Darvich's 2-0, but were ultimately made to pay for the sending-off of RB Leipzig midfielder Winners Osawe on double yellows in the 69th. A second goal was conceded. Just like in this summer's UEFA U-17 European Championship, Germany defeated their French counterparts on penalties.
Brunner missed his spot-kick in the shootout, but a decisive conversion from his fellow Dortmund prospect Almugera Kabar in the subsequent round enabled Wück's side to prevail over their opponents 4-3 following six rounds. Wück and his squad - commemorating two major tournament victories in a six-month-span - engaged in an full pile-on celebration at the left corner flag.
