FCA crews work "around the clock" to clear snowfall ahead of Sunday fixture
FC Augsburg have released a statement indicating that they have every intention of hosting Sunday night's fixture against Frankfurt despite heavy snowfall.
After heavy snowfall in the Bavarian region of the Bundesrepublik led to the postponement of Bayern's Saturday afternoon fixture against 1. FC Union Berlin, Bayern's Bavarian neighbors FC Augsburg provided an update on their own attempts to clear a snow-filled pitch. Augsburg - some 70 kilometers from the Bavarian capital - also incurred plenty of snowfall on Saturday.
The Fuggerstädter nevertheless emphasized that they "assumed" that the game would be played. Sporting director Michael Ströll issued a statement in which he cited "Serious commitment" from club staff members to render the playing surface safe. Augsburg's employees have plenty of time before kick-off in Sunday's 19:30 round capper.
"We are doing everything we can to ensure that the game can be played," Ströll's statement read, "Several employees are working almost around the clock, so we assume that the game will go ahead. Should the situation change, we will inform you immediately."
