Augsburg survive late Frankfurt fightback in frosty conditions
Bundesliga Matchday 13's action was wrapped up with Augsburg defeating Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 in sub-zero conditions.
Frankfurt started the better of the two with chances aplenty as Dahmen came to his sides rescue on a few occasions. Augsburg slowly started to grow into the cold and frosty occasion soon after.
Having had a goal ruled out earlier in the half, Fredrik Jensen made no mistake in the 35th minute to gift Augsburg the lead. Demirović pounced on an unfortunate slip from Larsson to feed the Finnish international who slipped the ball beyond Trapp's reach.
Augsburg's second goal arrived in the 58th minute and unsurprisingly Demirović played an instrumental role in the move. The Bosnian threaded the ball to Iago on the left who beautifully curled home inside the right post leaving Trapp rooted to the spot.
The hosts had a chance to further extend their lead with 15 minutes to play when Pacho felled Vargas in the box but Demirović would be denied by Trapp. Die Adler did manage to half the defecit directly after as Max squeezed the ball in with the aid of Dahmen's boot. It would be too little to late in the end for Toppmöller's outfit.
