Undav commits to play for Germany over Turkey

Deniz Undav has made it clear that he'd rather play for Germany than Turkey.
VfB Stuttgart striker Deniz Undav is said to have caught the eye of Julian Nagelsmann with his performances this season, with reports suggesting he has held talks with the German coach about a possible call-up.

Following Stuttgart's 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday, Undav was asked by Sky Germany if he has made a decision on whether to play for Germany or Turkey, who he's also eligible to play for.

He responded by saying "Einigkeit, Recht und Freiheit" - the first line of the German national anthem, which translates to "unity, justice and freedom".

Born in Achim, Lower Saxony, Undav's family has Kurdish roots and hails from southeastern Turkey.

The striker joined Stuttgart on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer and has scored nine goals in twelve appearances for the club.
