Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly looking to add firepower to their front line when the transfer window opens in January.

According to Kicker, Die Werkself are on the lookout for a flexible attacking player with the ability to play as a central striker.

The main reason for this is that Victor Bonifce will be going to the Africa Cup of Nations in January, leaving Patrik Schick, who recently returned from a long-term injury, as the only natural striker in the squad.

In light of this, a flexible striker would be a useful addition to the squad, even after Boniface returns from the Africa Cup of Nations.

"We are keeping a close eye on the situation," Bayer 04 sporting director Simon Rolfes was quoted as saying by Kicker.

He added that Leverkusen want to take a " carefully measured" approach with Schick.
