Confirmed: Eintracht sell Alario to Brazilian side linked with Borré
Argentine striker Lucas Alario's new South American club was revealed late Thursday evening.
Rumored to be in negotiations with a South American side for weeks, Eintracht Frankfurt striker Lucas Alario's next professional destination was finally confirmed on Thursday evening. The 31-year-old Argentine will move to Brazil's SC Internacional of Porto Alegre; the very same Brazilian club linked with Eintracht striker (currently on loan with SV Werder Bremen) Rafael Santos Borré.
Neither club disclosed any details about the transfer fee. Alario was rumored to be in negotiations with Argentine side River Plate, but the club froths native country considered the purchase to be too expensive. Eintracht paid a reported €6 million to acquire Alario from Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the summer of 2022. At present, the Bundesliga veteran's estimated market worth stands at €1.5 million.
Alario's arrival almost certainly has ramifications for Borré's potential departure. It would have already been difficult for Eintracht to organize a sale of their loaned-out-player. Alario's new deal with Internacional runs through December of 2025. He departs German football having scored 60 goals in 189 appearances across all competitions for Bayer and Eintracht over the course of six seasons.
