Dortmund confirm Maatsen signing
Ian Maatsen has joined Borussia Dortmund on loan from Chelsea for the rest of the season.
Borussia Dortmund have wrapped up the signing of Ian Maatsen on loan from Chelsea until the summer.
The Black and Yellows officially confirmed the arrival of the 21-year-old Dutch left-back on Friday.
"Due to our current personnel situation, we have decided to look at the left back position again this winter. Ian fits our profile with his strengths. He is a player with great pace, a strong left foot and the ability to play in a variety of positions. We are very happy that we were able to complete this loan signing before our first Bundesliga match of the year," said BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl.
Maatsen said that Dortmund "made a lot of efforts" to sign him.
"I've been following BVB and its fans for a long time and even went to the Champions League match in Manchester in the fall of 2022 to see the team live on the pitch.
"I'm very happy that the loan has worked out. I promise to give my all for the team's success and I am really looking forward to the Yellow Wall," said the left-back.
