Bremen updates: Argentine defender set to sign with Werder, Borré staying put

Various Argentine media sources are currently reporting that Argentine defender Julián Malatini is preparing to sign with Bundesliga outfit SV Werder Bremen.

A potential departure for on-loan Eintracht Frankfurt Colombian strikerRafael Santos Borré, for a variety of reasons, seems increasingly unlikely.
Germany's preeminent footballing publication, Kicker Magazine, is currently confirming reports from various Argentine media sources concerning a pickup for Hanseatic City-State side SV Werder Bremen. Twenty-two-year-old Argentine youth international Julián Malatini of Club Atlético Talleres (currently on loan with Defensa y Justicia) is apparently preparing to sign a four-year-deal with the Bundesliga outfit.

Kicker cites a statement from the Argentine FA itself confirming that the fullback/center back has left the Argentine Olympic team to "finalize a move to Germany". The youngster maintains a current estimated market worth of €1.5 million in the latest transfermarkt listings. No reliable information on a potential transfer fee is currentlyavailable.

Werder themselves have had to internally censure both head-coach Ole Werner and attacker Leonardo Bittencourt for publicly calling for the front office to invest in additional players during the current January transfer window. SV licensing head Clemens Fritz and sporting director Frank Baumann have done their bit to smooth matters over with the player and trainer.

Rumors continue to crop up over a potential departure of on-loan Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Rafael Santos Borré, but a move to Brazil now seems far less likely after the club purported to be interested in the Colombian striker signed Lucas Alario away from Eintracht instead. Brazilian media rumors claiming that talks regarding Borré are ongoing have been specifically refuted by both Fritz and Baumann.

"For things to change [with Rafa], a lot would have to happen," Baumann recently told Bremen's Deichstube website, "We aren't in negotiations with anyone. Nothing has changed. We want to keep him. We want to finish the season with us."
