Bayern reveal de Ligt has suffered knee capsule injury
FC Bayern München revealed the results of defender Matthjis de Ligt's MRI late Tuesday evening.
An MRI carried out on-site at FC Bayern München's training camp in Portugal revealed that the injury that caused center back Matthijis de Ligt to break off training today related to a knee capsule issue. The nature of such an injury doesn't necessarily rule the Dutchman out of the upcoming league encounter against Bremen on Saturday. De Ligt is nevertheless not expected back on the training pitch tomorrow. The Bavarians may wish to proceed cautiously with de Ligt as he is returning from more sustained problems with his knee.
De Ligt's fellow central defender Dayot Upamecano also had to break off training today, but is expected back tomorrow. Newly acquired center-halve Eric Dier, meanwhile, departed camp yesterday to attend to the birth of his first child. Bayern are already missing two defenders (South Korean Min-Jae Kim and Moroccan Noussair Mazraoui) to the Asian and African continental championships, respectively. FCB trainer Thomas Tuchel - as he did in a Pokal fixture earlier this season - may have to deploy Leon Goretzka in central defense.
