Kicker Report: Leverkusen make headway in Iglesias loan negotiations
German journalist Stephan van Nocks of Germany's preeminent footballing publication - a reliable source with inside connections at Leverkusen - now reports that there has been some movement in Leverkusen's attempt to acquire Spanish striker Borja Iglesias from Real Betis.
Despite the fact that the two sides were reported to be far apart yesterday, Leverkusen correspondent Stephan van Nocks of Germany's Kicker Magazine now reports that Germany's red company team and Real Betis may be nearing an agreement to bring Borja Iglesias to the Werkstadt. Iglesias' Spanish club teammate Ayoze Perez has confirmed that that the two sides are negotiating during a Spanish media round on Tuesday.
According to van Nocks, Betis have dropped their demand for a permanent transfer. Negotiations now center around short-term loan with a loan-fee in the seven-figure-range. Such a compromise benefits all parties. The twice-capped Spanish international reportedly wishes to play under his famous compatriot Xabi Alonso in Westphalia. Negotiations may drag for a time, but prospects for a deal are certainly better than initially reported.
