Augsburg loan Colina out to Denmark

FC Augsburg confirmed their sixth winter departure on Wednesday evening.
A little over a year after signing with the Fuggerstädter, Croatian fullback David Colina is headed north to Denmark on a six-month loan arrangement with Vejle BK. Augsburg confirmed on Wednesday evening that the 23-year-old had departed to join the Danish side's training camp in Turkey. Colina made seven Bundesliga appearances with Augsburg during the second half of last season after signing from Hajduk Split.

He scored off the bench in his club debut, yet never made an impact after that. Then FCA trainer Enrico Maaßen used him six more times in late relief. Colina never made a Bundesliga start. After making a start in Augsburg's opening Pokal round loss against SpVgg Unterhaching this year (he was yanked at the half) he never appeared on the pitch again.

Augsburg have had an interesting January transfer window under the stewardship of new sporting director Marinko Jurendic. Six players have been shedded from the roster with only only one new signing (Kristijan Jakic) coming in. Masaya Okugawa (Hamburger SV), Nathanael Mbuku and Irvin Cardona (both AS Saint-Etienne) have been loaned out. The loan of Japhet Tanganga was terminated prematurely and youngster Aaron Zehnter moved to SC Paderborn.

"In his regular position as left-back, where we are well positioned, it has not been easy for David to get playing time in recent months," Jurendic noted in statement addressing Colina's departure, "During his loan in Vejle David will work with his former youth coach, who knows him very well and should give him plenty of match practice."
