Dortmund achieve derby delight as Füllkrug hattrick sinks Bochum

Despite a host of absentees, BVB raced into a dream start inside six first-half minutes. The fleet-footed Donyell Malen brought to ground by Manuel Riemann resulted in a penalty. Niclas Füllkrug covered to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage.

Terzić’s side looked a little cagey at times, particularly defending Stöger set-pieces. However, they were perhaps unlucky not to double their lead on the half hour. Füllkrug perhaps guilty of overcomplicating Sancho's excellent pass. No sooner said, Bochum pulled level. Some hard work from Stöger gave Osterhage time to cross. Nico Schlotterbeck bundling the ball past Meyer who was sure to gather easily.

There was a momentary delay upon the restart as pyrotechnics soared from the Bochum gästeblock. Osterhage came close to setting off a firework of his own with a long range strike whistling wide. Dortmund's maiden chance of second half came in the 60th minute - Riemann spectacularly tipping Moukoko's drive onto the post.

Terzić called upon the services of Reyna and Bynoe-Gittens to restore the host's lead. It came to fruition instantly as the latter fed Sabitzer who hit the byline. The Austrian's cross sat up perfectly for Füllkrug who thumped home. Although not a vintage Schwarzgelben performance, the game was finally put to bed in injury time. A second penalty of the night, won by Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, let Niclas Füllkrug complete the hat-trick.
