Report: Augsburg close in on former Copenhagen attacker Pep Biel

Greek footballing Nikos Kotsis reports that FC Augsburg are close to signing versatile Spanish attacker Pep Biel on loan with an option to buy from Olympiacos Piraeus.
FC Augsburg - having shipped seven players out and brought only one new addition in during the current January transfer window - will almost certainly be seeking to sign more players before the window closes tomorrow. New FCA sporting director Marinko Jurendic could use some more additions in attack on his very thin 26-man-roster.

Rumors surfacing earlier in the day suggested that the Fuggerstädter were about to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Jessic Ngankam on loan, but it appears that Mainz have beaten Jurendic's team to the punch. Greek footballing Nikos Kotsis nevertheless suggests that the Bavarian Swabians have something else in mind.

Former FC Copehagen star Pep Biel is, according to Kotsis, close to joining the FCA. The 27-year-old Spaniard - who can play just about anywhere on the front line - excelled under current FCA trainer Jess Thorup at FC Copenhagen. Biel enjoyed the most successful years of his career under Thorup at the Danish outfit.

Since joining Olympiacos in 2022, Biel has fallen into disuse after an impressive debut season (nine goals and three assists in 30 Super League games) due to injury, form, and competition issues. Kotsis claims that Augsburg are close to signing the native Majorcan on loan with a reasonable purchase option.
