An injury-depleted Freiburg side will hope to end a three-match losing streak when they visit RC Lens on Thursday night in the first of two Europa League playoff knockout matches.

Freiburg endured an unfortunate night in Dortmund last week, losing 3-0 to BVB in a game that saw Manuel Gulde come off in the first half, adding to an injury list that already includes two centre-backs in Mathias Ginter and Philipp Lienhart.

However, as Freiburg coach Christian Streich revealed at his pre-match press conference, Gulde has a chance of playing on Thursday night.

"He travelled with us and it is possible that he can also play," said Streich, who knows that his team must improve on their performance in Dortmund.

"It's about showing a different side to ourselves than we did in Dortmund. We didn't manage to transition well and will now need to deliver a far better performance in order to come out on top here."

Unlike Freiburg, Lens are in great form and come into the game having won three in a row.

"I've watched some of their games and they are one of the top teams in France," Streich said.
