Rose hits back at Werner: "My office is always open"

Marco Rose has reacted with irritation to Timo Werner's recent criticism.
RB Leipzig coach Marco Rose has hit back at Timo Werner after the striker lashed out at his former club in an interview with Sky Germany.

Werner claimed there was "relatively little communication" between him and Leipzig bosses in the period leading up to his January loan move to Tottenham.

"During the first half of the season, it was clear what the coach thought of me and what his plans were with me. That's why it was relatively easy for me to take this step," Werner said.

"Sometimes it doesn't fit between people or between tactics and players. In the end, I can't complain to many people in Leipzig that the situation ended the way it did. It no longer brought me the joy I felt for a long time."

Asked about Werner's statements on Friday, Rose disagreed with the assessment that there wasn't much communication between the player and himself.

"I think I tried very hard for Timo. The whole thing is very complex. My office is always open, there was always the possibility to talk to me," said Rose.

"Timo should be happy that he is doing really well again, that he is playing a lot and performing well. Just like we are for him. Otherwise, it's very important to step back, be humble and assess your own situation correctly," he continued.
