Hoffenheim confirm major injury for Prömel

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim have confirmed that - in the midst of what is a difficult stretch for the team - they will be without pivotal midfielder Grischa Prömel for an extended period.
The injury that led to Grischa Prömel being subbed off in the 29th minute of Saturday's 0-1 loss to Prömel's former club 1. FC Union Berlin will sideline the 29-year-old indefinitely. The Bundesliga's ninth-placed side confirmed that the pivotal midfielder suffered an inner-ligament tear in his knee on Sunday. The nature of such an injury leaves it questionable whether Prömel will return until the final stages of the season. At present, the Kraigau club merely noted that he will be unavailable "until further notice".

Prömel was one of the more consistent performers in under-fire head-coach Pellegrino Matarazzo's side. The former German youth international started 20 league fixtures; featuring in the XI on all match-days apart from the ones he remained unavailable on due to suspension. The Stuttgart-native netted three league goals and registered five assists. The news comes at an especially bad time for the TSG, who are currently on an eight-match winless run. Hoffenheim face Dortmund next Sunday.
