Reports began to emerge this morning that Thomas Tuchel is set to step down as Bayern Munich head coach at the end of the season.

The decision has now been officially announced by Bayern Munich, who state that it is the result of an amicable discussion between CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and Tuchel.

"In an open and good discussion, we came to the decision to end our cooperation in the summer by mutual agreement. Our goal is to take a new sporting direction with a new coach for the 2024/25 season," said Dreesen.

"Until then, every individual in the club is explicitly called upon to achieve the maximum possible in the Champions League and the Bundesliga. I also explicitly hold the team accountable in this regard. In the Champions League in particular, we are convinced that we will reach the quarter-finals at a packed Allianz Arena with our fans behind us after the 1-0 first leg defeat at Lazio."

Tuchel said:

"We have agreed to end our collaboration at the end of this season. Until then, I will of course continue to do everything I can with my coaching team to achieve maximum success."

Thomas Tuchel took over from Julian Nagelsmann as Bayern coach in March 2023 and won the Bundesliga with the Bavarians last season.
