The candidates to succeed Neuer at Bayern
Sooner or later, Bayern Munich will have to replace 38-year-old Manuel Neuer. The Bavarians are considering several candidates.
Having just turned 38, it's clear that Manuel Neuer is in the twilight of his career. Therefore, it makes sense for Bayern Munich to consider who they want to replace him - and apparently they already have a few candidates in mind.
Should the Bavarians go for a foreign option, they could sign FC Porto's Diogo Costa or AC Milan's Mike Maignan, according to Sport Bild, who claims that both goalkeepers are on the Bavarians' list.
The report mentions Brighton & Hove Albion's Bart Verbruggen as a cheaper alternative, although the 21-year-old would have to perform consistently at a high level for a longer period of time before he could be considered a real alternative.
Another option is Alexander Nübel, who is currently on loan at VfB Stuttgart. A possibility would be to extend Nübel's contract beyond 2025 and let him continue on loan next season. He would then return in 2025 when Manuel Neuer's contract expires.
Finally, there's Daniel Peretz, whom Bayern signed from Maccabi Tel Aviv last year. In the short term, however, the 23-year-old is likely to be sent out on loan.
