Eintracht Frankfurt captain David Abraham is being linked with a return to his former club in the summer.

Speaking to the Argentinian media outlet Olé, a representative from Club Atlético Independiente has confirmed that the club have opened talks to sign the 33-year-old.

Eintracht Frankfurt coach Adi Hütter confirmed on Monday that the defender would like to return to Argentina in the future.

"The time will come when David Abraham will go back to Argentina. When that will happen is written in the stars," said Hütter.

Abraham came through the youth ranks at Independiente and made 39 appearances for the club before he joined Spanish side Gimnastic in 2008.

The Argentine centre-back has played for Frankfurt since 2015, playing 155 games with three goals to his name. His contract with 'Die Adler' runs until 2021.
